Bristol – Stroud Subscription Rooms

Built in 1833, The Subscription Rooms located in Stroud hosts performances, conferences, exhibitions, classes and markets. We carried out internal decorations and associated repairs to the Ballroom for Stroud District Council. The key features of this project were; high number of pre-paint repairs including; stains caused by water damage, split and damaged covings and ceilings and a large hole in the ceiling; intricate decorations carried out using specialist artist brushes by directly employed, local team; careful planning around building users and events, for example, working around interviews and public exhibitions; building remained open to the public throughout the project with works completed to a tight-timescale. We added value to this project through; experienced team able to offer specification advice including colour matching of original colours and use of a durable matte paint on lower walls to increase lifecycle; the employment of a 1st year Painting and Decorating Apprentice.
