Yugo Student Accommodation

Ian Williams were appointed to internally redecorate rooms, common areas and communal kitchens over two sites in Birmingham. This is the first time the City Manager has worked with a contractor as they had previously competed redecorations with their own internal team. With the acquisition of a second site, their small maintenance team were unable to deliver the volume of decorations required.

Yugo’s requirement was that only the walls in the rooms and communal areas which had encountered the most traffic would be decorated. Ian Williams hosted a number of meetings to set up working practices, undertake thorough surveys and to agree the most efficient way to complete the project and programme the works

Ian Williams’ Contract Manager and Foreperson were in daily contact with the City Manager to share information on progress and to keep the project on schedule. This included liaising on the room cleaning This approach proved to be valuable as on a couple of occasions more Ian Williams direct delivery resources were mobilised to ensure the phases were completed on time.

The same painting and decorating teams were used on each of the phases, this consistency led to time savings and ensured that we were efficient in delivering works around differing room contracts and Commonwealth Games accommodation requirements
