Brixton House opened to the public in early 2022. The new theatre sits at the heart of Brixton’s local community, providing a space where local artists and audiences can enjoy and create experiences within modern, purpose-built facilities.

Cousins’ involvement included internal decoration throughout the building. This comprised black spray-painted ceilings with all metal containment fitted, walls painted using Dulux Diamond Matt, and all joinery finished in Dulux Quick Drying Satinwood.

Extensive metalwork was also carried out, forming the main staircases, which were painted in multiple colours. Doodle-style artwork was added to the lift fronts, contributing to the building’s vibrant and creative character.

Over several decades, the “Nuclear Dawn” mural had suffered from weathering, faded paint, and ivy growth. The mural was commissioned for restoration to return it to its former glory, repairing damaged and faded areas using breathable paints suitable for all weather conditions.
