Wray Common Windmill

Our contribution HouseForce carried out the full external redecoration of Wray Common Windmill. The works included the erection of scaffold for safe and suitable access, Timber repairs to rotten and damaged timber crown, clean and treat tower for mould and algae, repainting of brick tower, repainting of timber clad ground floor buildings, window repairs and painting, re pointing brickwork mortar as required.

  • List Entry Number: 1029127 1824. Handsome windmill of tower type standing in a farmyard. Tarred brick. 4 storeys and platform above. Pointed cap made of sheets of metal with wooden cornice below it and mushroom-shaped finial surmounting it. Fantail intact. The sweeps exist but lack their shutters. Pointed windows with Gothic panes on 1st and 2nd floors. Circular windows on 3rd floor. Handsome doorway with narrow pilasters, pediment, semi-circular fanlight and double doors. Now converted to a residence.
