McGoff Barchester Care Home

Barchester Healthcare are an award-winning care home and nursing provider who specialise in delivering top quality care to the residents and patients living in their homes. McGoff Construction Limited (acting as the Main Contractor), awarded Cosgrove Painting Contractors the decorating package of Barchester’s brand new Florence Court Care Home, situated in Fareham, Hampshire.

Cosgrove Painting have successfully undertaken and completed a number of new build care home projects; however, this project was a first for us in terms of the health care element and specifications with regards to Dementia care.

Given the high quality of specification and level of detail required throughout the project, we were confident that our expertise and experience could provide McGoff Construction the service that they required, and we were subsequently extremely pleased to secure this project.

The build was broken down into eight phases which all required full decorations across four floors. Covering full internal new decorations to bedrooms & ensuites, cafes, dining and lounge areas, day spaces, consulting rooms, physio rooms, nurse/ medical rooms, cinema, hair & beauty room, back of house staff areas, communal corridors and stairwells.

With over 40 colours and specialist wall coverings, Cosgrove Painting spent a number of hours, meticulously planning each of the phases to ensure the specifications of each area were met and more importantly correct, prior to project commencement.

Working closely with the paint manufacturer, we used Dulux Scuffshield Matt, a scrubbable finish throughout most of the areas to provide longevity of painted surfaces and used Diamond Satinwood a water-based, quick-drying low odour paint on all woodwork.

We worked closely with the McGoff team throughout the project, to ensure that we completed the decorations in total safety and to the highest quality.

Key to the success was the Site Supervisors working closely with the McGoff site team whereby they held regular meetings and together agreed the programme, evening and weekend working and site procedures including site safety which resulted in an excellent finish and within budget. To certify quality, the Site Supervisor also completed weekly quality checks with the Cosgrove foreman which ensured total satisfaction when the project was handed over.
