Contractor profile
Typical project scope:
McLoughlin Group – formerly known as K&M McLoughlin Decorating – was established in 1988 by Kevin McLoughlin. The company began with just 10 decorators providing painting and decorating services to main contractors in London.
Since then the company has grown organically and we now employ over 200 highly skilled craftsmen, many of whom have been with us for over 30 years – we do not subcontract any of our painting and decorating work.
From offices in Islington, Enfield and Barking we provide an extensive range of painting and decorating services to clients across the Country – we take great pride in our reputation for exceptional customer service, our attention to detail and quality of finish. In addition we even have our own training college which is recognised as one of the most successful
pre-employment schemes in the UK.
At the dawn of 2020 the company was re-structured to allow us to focus on a number of specialist services, all of which operate under the McLoughlin Group name.
MCLOUGHLIN TRAINING - A PROFESSIONAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
Under the K&M banner, McLoughlin Decorating started its training school in 2010.
Based in Islington, London, the school offers a 4 week painting and decorating course for all ages 16 to 65. with mock up rooms simulating real site conditions it provides the ideal environment to learn all aspects of painting and decorating from preparation, to sanding and filling before applying the final finish.
All McLoughlin trainers have previously worked as painters and decorators at different levels and bring a wealth of real industry experience to the learning environment. As well as practical training, a classroom environment is also available where theory based training can be delivered. There is also the opportunity to obtain a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (cscs) card.
Successful candidates have the opportunity to gain an apprenticeship or employment within McLoughlin Group or one of their supply chain. In the last 3 years we have found 164 people employment in the construction industry, 67 with full apprenticeships.
The school is also used to improve and enhance the skills and knowledge of our operatives when new products are introduced to the market. We work very closely with our supply chain and are always keen for them to showcase their new products in our exhibition centre.
