We delivered internal decorations and repairs to the Henry Building and Elles Building on the Paisley campus. We worked in live environments in communal areas including corridors and stairwells. Operatives needed to be mindful of the working environment and worked in the quietest manner possible to minimise any disruption caused to staff and students. We segregated working zones that would encounter pedestrian footfall by using fixed barriers to prevent access into the work area and also set up alternative access/egress routes.

We sourced and recommended paint products that were low in odour and extremely quick drying that could be used where essential maintenance was required but in areas that were in public use. This ensured that areas could be used again as normal as soon as possible and therefore minimising disruption caused.

The floor coverings were also being renewed following the decoration works and so the project timescales were tight as a result. This required an emphasis on working to tight deadlines and maintaining seamless lines of communication with the Facilities Manager to ensure that the programme was achieved.

As part of the works, we were carrying out works to doors that had been previously varnished numerous times. The client requested that the door coatings were changed to a solid paint coating. To transform the doors, we were able to suggest that we use an adhesion primer to provide a base coat to apply the finishing coats. This worked especially well and allowed the door colour scheme to be maintained to match the rest of the campus.

All operatives were security checked by Trident before being allowed to commence works on-site, and as a condition of the contract held Enhanced Disclosure Certificates due to working in environments that may contain vulnerable groups.
