Clock House (Morgan Sindall)
With our experience in carrying out projects of this nature, we were selected as the best contractor for the job to deliver external and internal decorations, carpentry repairs and new flooring to Clock House in London, a Grade II Listed building, now a block of flats.
We carried out painting and repairs to the external masonry, painting to all windows and doors and repairs using the Dry Flex Repair Care system, with all operatives fully trained in the correct use/application of all products. Due to Clock House being a Grade II Listed building, we ensured that the correct materials and procedures were in place with these approved by the Conservation Officer prior to commencement.
We allocated seven painters and two carpenters, dedicated to the project for its duration, and inducted an additional three painters and a carpenter as part of our contingency planning process. These additional operatives were available to immediately deploy to the project if required to accelerate programme or following periods of inclement weather.
All access to the external components was via fixed scaffolding. Following site survey and the completion of CDM 2015/HASAWA 1974 compliant health and safety plans, risk assessments and method statements and compliant systems of best practice, scaffolding was selected as the best/safest method of access. No works were carried out on the scaffold until a handover certificate was issued by the nominated scaffolder and not before we had undertaken a working at height risk assessment with the safe systems of work communicated to the site team at the site induction. All operatives were fully trained in working at height and scaffold inspection and were provided with all necessary PPE to complete the works safely. Appropriate safety signage was used with bunting/safety rails to prevent access to or near the area where working height was taking place, with temporary alternative routes (Covid-19 considered) in place for building users.
