Co-Op Stores
The Co-op was looking for a reliable and experienced painting contractor in the commercial retail sector to improve the aesthetics of their stores by completing full external and internal redecoration to shop fronts, warehouse areas, staff rooms, toilets and car park areas. 2-3 weeks prior to the commencement of works at each store we held a pre-start meeting to discuss each phase of the project. This allowed us to fully plan and mobilise to ensure that the project was completed on time in readiness for the stores to be fully opened.
We worked closely with the architect and client and ensured that all members of the public were safe and that all areas were adequately protected, including flooring with a non-slip dust sheeting. We completed most of the works out-of-hours which minimised disruption to the day-to-day function of the stores. With multiple trades and a tight programme, we ensured that at the beginning of each phase the Site Manager was made aware of the areas we were working in for complete security of the premises. Access was a concern to the client and the impact of public perception during opening hours. We therefore used mobile towers and MEWPs for access, which were removed at the end of each day and locked away safely.
To further enhance quality, and because some areas had high volume of footfall, we worked with our paint suppliers to design a paint system that would extend the lifecycle of the areas. Internally, a specialist ‘scrubbable’ finish was selected to increase the maintenance cycles, supported by a durable water-based quick-drying and low odour product. This allowed the stores to be open as normal. Externally, we selected durable UV resistant products.
It was imperative for the client that the completed works were of the highest standards. Our Site Supervisor completed quality audits on a daily basis with each aspect signed off before moving onto the next stage. This system provided surety to the Co-op that the project was in exceptionally capable hands and would be completed to a high quality standard.
