Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Following a successful tendering process, we were pleased to secure the contract to redecorate Great Western Hospital, a large NHS hospital in Swindon, Wiltshire. We allocated a dedicated team of experienced operatives to the contract, who were familiar with and experienced in working in the NHS and healthcare sector. Our directly employed team carried out decorations to corridors, circulation areas, hospital wings and wards.

Based on previous high-quality works carried out, we further secured a redecoration project of the NHS office management suite, further public corridors and the Oncology Ward.

Due to the nature of the Oncology Ward, and dealing with extremely ill patients, the decoration work needed to be carefully planned to accommodate Great Western Hospital’s specific Quality Care Agenda. The decorations could only be completed over a three-day Christmas weekend shut-down period, when the ward was closed to patients, and needed to be ready for use again by 6.00am on the Monday morning.

By working with the NHS Estates Team, we planned to complete the project by working through the day and through the night. Planning was critical to maximise the window of time we had, and the volume of decoration work needed. We adopted a detailed risk management model to factor in all the variables which we then used to plan (with contingency plans) how the project would be executed whilst achieving the Quality Care Agenda. We selected highly experienced and trained operatives, together with a strong site management team; all of whom were inducted into Great Western Hospital’s procedures and systems of working.

The decorations were completed by the Monday morning to an extremely high standard and to the total satisfaction of the Great Western Hospital NHS staff and the Estates Team.
