Wirral NHS Foundation Trust - St Catherine's Health Centre
Following a competitive tender process, we successfully secured the contract to redecorate St Catherine’s Health Centre on behalf of the Wirral NHS Foundation Trust. Wirral NHS were looking for a reliable and experienced contractor in the health care sector to carry out internal redecorations across five wings, each with five floors.
Works included full internal redecorations to offices, training rooms, consulting rooms, dental surgeries, physio rooms, general medical rooms, general clinical rooms and all communal corridors and stairwells. All operatives allocated to the contract underwent DBS/safeguarding checks before being permitted to undertake any works on-site, including full NHS site inductions.
We worked closely with the NHS site teams to ensure that we completed works with total safety in mind and to a high hygienic standard, and most importantly causing as little disruption to the patients and NHS staff as possible. We held daily meetings with the NHS Site Manager to ensure we completed our works around any key activities and to keep disruption to the client and general public to an absolute minimum. Where required, we tailored our service to suit, i.e. by completing work out-of-hours and over weekends when decorating ‘high traffic’ areas.
Although we worked to a tight programme, we ensured at the beginning of each new phase that the Site Manager was made aware of the areas that we were due to be working in; this approach allowed us to arrange for doors to be unlocked and locked again upon completion to ensure the security of the premises and the patients.
Working with our supply chain, and utilising our knowledge, we used specialist scrubbable finishes to help increase the maintenance cycles. We also used water-based, quick-drying and low odour gloss paints. To maintain quality, our Site Supervisor carried out regular checks to completed areas before they were handed over for client inspection and subsequent handover.
