Talon Engineering – External Cladding Painting
Bagnalls were requested by Talon engineering to complete the external painting to three plastisol cladded buildings. We delivered a cost-effective solution for safe access as well as providing a paint specification that would achieve longevity and a high-quality finish. Prior to any works commencing, a site survey was undertaken, the surface condition of the cladding was very poor with evident flaking and peeling, over the whole surface area. We therefore worked with our supply chain partner to apply a tried and tested product for such environments. The full specification required a complete power wash at 2,500 PSI with a rotary head to remove all flaking paint, prior to paint application. Site safety as always was imperative and all operatives were signed in and inducted on site and made aware of the site risks and specific customer rules and requirements. The foreman in charge discussed the process of the job and advised the team on which elevation of the building to start. Once agreed, the working area was cordoned off to the public and staff, allowing the operatives a secure working area and safe access to the building. As each of the three buildings are situated adjacent to a busy car park area, we decided to use a MEWP (mobile elevated working platform) for access, as this provided a cheaper alternative to scaffolding, offered great flexibility for working at height and when not in use only took up one car space. Our directly employed operatives assigned to the project were fully trained and competent in the use of MEWPS. We completed the works to a high standard and in a safe manner. The client was exceptionally happy with the finished result, and immediately recommended Bagnalls to another company who had a similar issue.
