What was our client looking for?
Sanctuary Care provides residential, respite, nursing, dementia, intermediate and home care services across the UK. They were looking for a contractor to carry out decoration works to a number of their schemes across the UK.

How did we help?
The works provided consist of internal decorations to communal areas, corridors, day rooms, kitchens and bathrooms as well as bed-space and office areas. We also completed external redecorations including window and door replacement and adapted bathrooms.

We completed the works in such a way as not to disturb the residents’ daily routines. This consisted of daily morning briefings with the Unit Manager as in some cases the residents were suffering with dementia. In support of this environment, we adopted night working (10.00pm - 5.00am) to reduce the disturbance and provide a sense of normality. We also decorated each floor level in different colours to support local recognition. We applied quick-drying paints ensuring the residents were able to use all communal areas the next morning.

When decorations were required to a bed-space accommodation or communal bathroom we used quick-drying (less than 60 mins), low odour paints, ensuring the residents were able to use or sleep in their rooms that same night. Liaising with the Unit Manager, we worked in one communal hub at a time to reduce resident stress. In some cases, when working in a communal kitchen, we provided fish and chip suppers as part of our Customer Care approach; it is important to us to build up a good relationship with both the staff and residents.

The results
The projects were completed on time and to budget to the complete satisfaction of Sanctuary Care and the residents.
