Bursledon Windmill, Hampshire County Council

Sector: Heritage Trust Historic Buildings

Services provided: repairs and painting to woodwork on sails, windows and core structure

The client? Hampshire County Council Museum Service manages 15 museums and historic sites across the county, 10 of them in partnership with district councils.

Built in 1814, Burlesdon Windmill is the last surviving working windmill in Hampshire. Open to the public, it has been restored to full working order. The Windmill grinds wheat to produce stoneground flour for sale to local bakeries and visitors.

How did we help? We secured the work through competitive tendering by demonstrating the versatility of our decorating team through our experience of working on many listed buildings which requires both specialist care and attention following English Heritage specification.

Working with Hampshire County Council Museum Service, a complete array of scaffolding erected which had to incorporate a docking station for the sales to enable redecoration and repairs to be completed.
